Not much to report today. We left Monticello around 11 this morning and pulled into Cortez a little after noon thirty and will stay here a week. We really like these long travel days. After getting settled into our assigned spot we headed across the street to the Cortez Welcome Center. The people that work there are very helpful and enthusiastic about their neck of the world. We ended up walking out of there with approximately 397 pounds of brochures and tickets to two of the Mesa Verde ruin tours on Thursday. After a brief tour of the city Dianne heard a slot machine calling her name. The Sleeping Ute Casino is only 11 miles from town so we had to hot foot it down there. Dianne did okay-3 plays on the first machine she tried and she doubled her money. She ended up breaking even while Wayne had his usual luck and made his contribution to the local Indians.
Headed back to the RV after putting gas in the truck. Then for our big excitement of the day – doing laundry. Read through most of the stack of brochures and visited with fellow campers from British Columbia and Australia while the clothes did their thing.
Tomorrow we will be doing the San Juan Skyway, which is billed as one of the most scenic drives in America, spanning elevations from 6,200 feet here at Cortez to 11,008 feet at Red Mountain Pass.
No pictures today. Not much to take pictures of.
